Importing FNMA into Genesis
Step One: Setting up the FNMA
database location
This step you only
need to do the first time you want to import FNMA files. If you have already
set up the database location, skip to Step Two.
- Open vForms.
- Click on Tools, Options.
- The vForms Options/ Settings window
will open.
- Click on the Locations tab.
- Click on the Add button. A
new line will appear at the bottom of the Locations screen.
- Click in the View Button box,
Select either Borrowers or Prospects. (This is up to you
depending on where you want to have the FNMA database.)
- Click in the Source box.
Select FNMA from the drop down list.
- Click in the Location box.
Click on the Down Arrow. Browse till you find
C:\Genesis\Data\FNMA_Web\Import (Substitute a
Network Drive if needed). Click the OK button.
- Click on the OK button to
save and close the vForms Options/ Settings window.

Step Two: Dropping the FNMA
file into your FNMA database
- Save the .FDF file to your desktop.
- Open vForms.
- Select the Database you
created in Step One.
- Drag and Drop the .FDF file
from your desktop into the database window in vForms.
Step Three: Importing the
FNMA file into Genesis
- Open Genesis, make sure you
are not in any files.
- Go to the Access menu and
choose Fannie Mae, choose Import Fannie Mae Format 3.0.
- On the new box in the type of files
section change it from .1003 to .FNM.
- Click on Browse and find
c:\Genesis\Data\FNMA_Web\Import (*Substitute Network Drive for c:
- If needed) then hit OK.
- Locate FNM file and hit OK,
it will then be imported into Genesis.
* Note: Genesis will substitute some
blank fields by filling them in themselves.
