Setting up your Hotmail/MSN account in Microsoft Outlook 2002 (XP) Why should I set up
my Hotmail/MSN account in Microsoft Outlook?
This would allow you to use features of
Microsoft Outlook that are not available in the web interface.
- utilize Contacts for storing
information of your clients
- directly tie into the web based email
system
- automatically attach vForms to outgoing
emails
To set up your Hotmail account
in Microsoft Outlook 2002 (XP)
- In Microsoft Outlook, click Email
Accounts
on the Tools menu.
- In the Email Accounts page, click Add
a new email account, and then click Next.
- On the Server Type page, Select HTTP, and then click Next.
- On the Internet E-mail Settings (HTTP)
page,
type your name, and your full Hotmail address
(name@hotmail.com).
- Type your User Name and Password in the
respective boxes. Your account name is the first half of your MSN Hotmail
e-mail address (the information before the @ sign). (If you are using MSN Mail
change the drop down box to say MSN.)
- Click Next.
- Click Finish to add your Hotmail
account to Microsoft Outlook.

To
store Hotmail messages in Microsoft Outlook
You can store your Hotmail messages on
your computer using Microsoft Microsoft Outlook (version 5 or later). This way you
won't have to worry about exceeding the size limit for your Hotmail account.
- In Microsoft Outlook, create a folder in
Local Folders for your Hotmail messages. (On the File menu, point to
New, and then click Folder.)
- Click your Hotmail Inbox and
drag messages from there to the folder you created. (To drag a message: Click
it, hold down the mouse button while moving it to the folder, and release it.)
