vTip # 31 - Creating the vForm Database for incoming 1003 Application E.A.R.S. customer edited files:

The Professional Edition of vForms allows you to email your borrowers an E.A.R.S. 1003 loan application form, have them edit this 1003 on line and return the updated changes to you via email by clicking on a submit button created by vForms!

You are given two options when these edited 1003 application documents are returned to you from your borrowers:

  1. Repopulate the 1003 application form with this updated information.
  2. Drag and drop this data into a vForm FNMA Database and import this data into your LOS system.

Why create this database?

When your borrowers or clients edit your 1003 application E.A.R.S. form and return it to you via email, you will be able to print a hard copy of this 1003 forms and download the client updated data into this FNMA database. Once this updated information is in the vForms FNMA database, you can import this updated data into your LOS system.

STEP ONE: Decide where to program your vForms to access the LOS FNMA database importing functions for your E.A.R.S. returning email documents.

You will need to know where your LOS system defaults automatically to open a FNMA 1003 application form. For this example, we will select the location typically defaulted for Calyx Point users: C:\Winpoint\Work

Presently, we suggest the following default settings for these LOS systems:

Point: C:\Winpoint\Work (Network drive should be used if applicable)

Byte: C:\TQS5\ (Network drive should be used if applicable)

Contour: C:\Desktop\MyDocuments

You can locate these defaults by following the instructions for each LOS system for importing FNMA forms into the LOS software programs. Usually it is found under the "File" heading and an "Import" function.

STEP TWO: Creating a FNMA vForms Database in vForms.

We will be establishing a database under one of the major icons (Borrowers, Prospects, or Contacts). In this manner, when you click on that specific icon and select the vForms Database in the same manner as you presently select your borrowers, prospects, or contact databases, your computer folder holding the E.A.R.S. returned data will be opened.

  1. Open vForms by clicking on the vForms icon on your computer desktop.
  2. Click on "Tools" and then "Options".
  3. In the vForms Options/Settings screens under the location tab showing the Borrowers, Contacts, Prospects, and Employees view buttons, right click on the ADD button.
  4. Left click your mouse in the highlighted box and select Borrowers. (If you choose, you can set this database under the Prospects or Contacts option rather than the Borrowers.)
  5. Directly to the right, click in the box under "Source" and click the down arrow and select "FNMA".
  6. Directly to the right, click in the "Location" box and select the area in your computer where your LOS defaults and sends FNMA imported forms.
  7. Click on "OK".
  8. When you want to access this database, click the Borrowers Icon and select the "FNMA" option (if you choose the Prospects or Contacts icon in #4 above, click on that appropriate icon).
