vTip #24 - Setting InterActive vForms Defaults

Why check your vForms default settings?

vForms has seven default settings that you can choose to better utilize the power and InterActive capabilities of our InterActive vForms software. Follow these procedures and ensure you have selected the proper default settings for your vForms.

STEP ONE: Opening the vForms Default Settings window:

  1. Open vForms.
  2. Click on Tools, Options.
  3. Select the Defaults tab.

STEP TWO: Individual setting selection options:

We suggest that, at a minimum, you have the top four boxes checked on your InterActive vForms Options/Settings screen.

This screen will show you seven individual boxes, as well as an Internet Properties box and an area to select the Calculate Date Format for InterActive vForms.

Show Menu Captions Box:
When this box is checked, titles will appear under the icons on the main screen and highlighting screen of vForms. These icons consist of the following: Print (printer), Send (email), Borrowers, Prospects, Contacts, Employees, Address Book, Packets, and Libraries.

Show Print Order Column:
When this box is checked, a number will appear next to the form selected in the library of InterActive vForms. Many of our vForms' users have a specific order in which they wish to have their InterActive vForms viewed by their clients.  You now can select forms in the order you wish them to appear by clicking on this option.

Convert UPPER to Mixed Case:
We have noticed that many users type their borrowers' or prospects' names into their LOS systems with all capital letters. If this box is checked, vForms will convert the data to mixed case formats when using the RTF automated email marketing and informational messages. This will add a professional look to your email messages that automatically populate to the body of your email.

RTF Merge uses Page Breaks:
When merging multiple RTF documents, a Page Break will be inserted between the documents since normally the documents would run together on the same page.

Use External PDF Support:
InterActive vForms is programmed to operate with the FREE Adobe Acrobat Reader Software. Many of our software users have purchased and use the full version of Adobe Acrobat to create and modify forms in a PDF format. If you have purchased and installed the full writer/reader Adobe Acrobat Software and have not installed the Reader, click this box. This will allow vForms to interact and operate to its full capabilities with the full writer version of Adobe Acrobat.

Use Clients not Borrowers:
If this box is checked, the title under the Borrowers icon will be changed to "Clients" rather than "Borrowers". This option is incorporated into InterActive vForms for use by our non-mortgage software users.

Use Outlook via OLE:
Sending email using Outlook via OLE allows users of vForms Professional to send out mass email marketing campaigns and not be prompted to review each message before sending.

Internet Properties Box:
If you click on this box, you are given direct access to your Internet Explorer program. One of the main purposes of getting quick access to Internet Explorer is to check or change the email settings. vForms uses the default settings in Internet Explorer to open your appropriate email services.

Calculate Date Format (RTF documents only):
You can use calculated dates e.g. <L_ClosedDate+30>. If the Closed Date of the loan has a value, vForms will add 30 days to it and insert that date. The date format allows you to select how that date is formatted. This is especially useful when creating on-going mail campaigns, as you can print letters for the next 6 months all properly dated and have them ready to mail at the appropriate times.
