vTips #9 - Setting the vForms PDF Printer Defaults

WHY DO YOU WANT TO SET THESE DEFAULTS IF YOU HAVE A WINDOWS 95, 98, ME, 2000, XP COMPUTER OPERATING SYSTEM?

You now have a vForms PDF print driver incorporated in your InterActive vForms software. To maximize the speed and quality of downloading, emailing, and printing these PDF files from your vForms PDF printer, please follow the instructions listed below:

STEP ONE: Make sure your vForms PDF Print Driver is installed:

  1. See vTip #3 for these instructions.

STEP TWO: Setting the defaults for the vForms Printer using Windows 95/98/ME:

skip to Step THREE below if you have Windows 2000 or XP

  1. Click on "Start" at the bottom left of your computer monitor.
  2. Select "Settings" and then Click on "Printers".
  3. "Right Click" on your vForms Printer icon.
  4. Click on "Properties".
  5. Click on "Paper" tab.
  6. Click on "Legal".
  7. Click on the "Graphics" tab.
  8. In the "Resolution box", select the down arrow and set the default to "200 Dots Per Inch".
  9. Under the "Resolution Box", there is a box named "Color" -- Click on this box.
  10. Select "Print in black and white only" -- (you can change this setting when you print color pictures, the download process and the conversion to a PDF attachment file will be slower when the default on your printer is set to color).
  11. Click "OK".
  12. Click on "Line Art" under the Dithering Screen.
  13. Click "Apply" and then "OK".
  14. Close out of the Printer screen by clicking the "X" in the top right hand corner.

The default settings for your vForms printer will now be set to maximize the speed and quality when emailing and printing selected forms and documents.

STEP THREE: Setting the defaults for the vForms Printer using Windows 2000/ XP:

  1. Click on "Start" at the bottom left of your computer monitor.
  2. Select "Settings" and then Click on "Printers".
  3. "Right Click" on your vForms Printer icon.
  4. Click on "Properties".
  5. Click on "Advanced" tab.
  6. Select "Printing Defaults".
  7. Change paper to "Legal".
  8. Change print quality to 200 x 200 DPI and click on "OK".
  9. Click the "Apply" box and then "OK".
  10. Close the Printers" screen and your vForms Printer is ready to use.
